Stephanie Kim received her Master of Architecture degree at Yale University in 1994 and her Bachelor of Arts degree at Wesleyan University. She has apprenticed at the interior design firm of Cubic Design in Seoul, Korea where she produced concept designs for various restaurants. In New York City, she worked as Project Designer for Gabellini Associates. Her main focus was on the Jil Sander stores and showrooms and furniture design for a Park Avenue Residence. In addition, she has worked for S. Russell Groves as Project Designer and Project Manager on the New York City offices of Giorgio Armani and various Giorgio Armani retail stores throughout the U.S.
In 2003, she formed a partnership design/build firm in Brooklyn, NY called Office606 Design + Construction. Their projects included high-end, "boutique" condominiums in the Carroll Gardens section of Brooklyn. One was a twelve unit building with partial new construction while another was a four unit condominium built from the ground up. Other projects included the interiors of a start-up internet company and a photographer's studio.
Stemming from a desire to fully immerse herself in the design of interior spaces and their elements, she started her own studio, Stephanie Kim Design (STK-D.COM) in 2012. Her office is located in the place she calls home-Brooklyn, where she also lives with her 3 kids and a dog.
